D&R Star Turns 50-It's Kind of a Big Deal!

This November, local business, D&R Star/Family Fun Center turns 50!

That's a long time to be in business. D&R Star/Family Fun Center wanted to do something special. When you're 50, you take time to reflect back, which is what Dick and Mike Hawkins and the entire staff did. The planning began and as great stories circulated around the conference room, several starting with "remember when" and "can you believe that's how we did it back then." They all agreed it's time to celebrate and shout to the world that they are 50! Every employee had ideas on how they could do that. However, at the end of the meeting, all agreed that it came down to this:

WE HAVE TO THANK OUR CUSTOMERS. THEY ARE THE REASON WE ARE HERE.

After months of planning, (and let's face it, spending lots of money) it will all culminate as a BIG celebration with BIG prizes.

CWS was thrilled to be a part of the marketing efforts for this once in a lifetime celebration.

Here's how they are celebrating 50 years and THANKING THEIR CUSTOMERS:

1) A SUPER SIZED PRIZE

D&R Star will give away a $20,000 game room. In marketing terms, that's a big *s@ prize! A national level prize! Something you'd see McDonalds or Pepsi do. One lucky local winner will get a pool table, ping pong top, foosball table, dart board, bar lights, bar and bar stools, cues, darts and more!

CWS built a custom Facebook Application that serves as an entry form with official rules, graphics and data base capture. The contest closes at noon on Monday, November 18th. You can enter once everyday. (Here's the link if you want to do it now.)

Now that's a big "Thank You!"

2) LOTS OF OTHER PRIZES

As if a $20,000 game room wasn't enough, D&R Star/Family Fun Center has been giving away prizes via scratch off tickets through out the summer and fall. Pool Cues, Dart Sets, Jukeboxes and more; a great way to celebrate and say "Thank You" to long time, loyal customers.

3) CELEBRATIONS

Since "Fun" is their middle name, of course they are throwing a party. In fact, they're throwing TWO big 'ole parties to say "Thank You," Thursday, November 14th.

OPEN HOUSE (Open to the Public)

First, there will be a customer appreciation OPEN HOUSE in the afternoon with:

• Food and refreshments from Ye Olde Butcher Shoppe Catering
• Discounts
• Give-aways
• Prizes

This celebration is open to the public.

BUSINESS AFTER HOURS (private party for Chamber Members)

That evening, starting at 5pm, D&R Star/Family Fun Center will host a super-sized Business After Hours for Chamber Members only to celebrate 50 great years. It's gonna be a really big deal and here's how they plan to supersize the fun:

• D&R Staffers will be dressed in 60's attire and invite you to get out the Go-Go boots, Austin Powers outfits, or whatever takes you back to 1963.
• Retro candy. (They promise it won't be 50 years old.)
• Food sampling from their vendors.
• Great food and beverages from Canadian Honker Catering.
• Free play games through out the building. Play some Pac Man, pinball or whatever game spells, F-U-N for you.
• Plenty of PRIZES! And we're talking great prizes!
