Launch: Common Cents Website and Facebook Environment

Congratulations to Common Cents Rochester, MN Sales Tax Reauthorization on the launch of their New Website and Facebook Environment. The committee wanted to deliver the message that the reauthorization of the current 1/2 cent sales tax will address our community's need for capital projects and infrastructure improvements with jobs and economic development as the focus.

The digital environment also needed to convey the information that the revenue stays here, increases jobs, minimizes our property tax increases, and that up to half the total is paid for by visitors.

The Website

The Message
Because there are several pieces to this message, CWS Project Managers, Heather Holmes and Sheryl Barlow, put a focus on creating a concise message and developing a navigation plan that made sense.

The Goal
The goal was to easily inform people on a complicated subject so they could make an informed decision come election time. The information needed to be presented in an easy to read and understandable format. Multiple questions could arise so an FAQ's page and a special "Ask Jerry" button were created.

Participation
A special page was created that allows people to request a speaker, ask for a yard sign, or even donate money directly through the website.

The Facebook Environment

The Goal
With a topic such as a sales tax reauthorization the need for back and forth communication and discussion is essential so Common Cents worked with CWS on a social media environment to serve this purpose.

The Strategy
A strategy was developed to post relevant information with links to custom Facebook pages or the website to provide more information. A person was designated and trained to post relevant information and another to answer questions asked through the Facebook page.

Custom Pages
Custom pages were developed to provide information on the many pieces of the campaign and to answer some of the many questions we expect to get through the Facebook environment.
