Remembering September 11, 2001

Like many of you, I clearly remember the morning of September 11, 2001 . We were all busy working when we heard on the radio that the country was under attack. It was only a matter of minutes before websites like cnn.com and foxnews.com became overwhelmed with traffic and we had a hard time getting information on what was happening. We turned on the TV just in time to see the first tower fall.

I remember feeling shocked, mad, frustrated, and helpless all at the same time. We wanted to help, but didn't know how.

So, we did the only thing we knew how- we built a website.

Over the next few weeks, tens of thousands visited the website from all over the world and made comments, added victims' names, and offered support. It was truly an humbling experience for all of us. One special moment for me was when we were interviewed by the New York Times in 2002 for a story about Virtual Memorials.

Nearly 6 years later, I'm still proud of the video montage we quickly created that day. This is somewhat ironic, as I usually start to dislike something we create in a matter of a year or two. I guess this is proof that history really does remain timeless.

As of today, we have made the decision to lock the website from further comments and submissions. We feel that it is important to capture the moment in time and the thoughts and feelings surrounding it. Like all memorials, the website will remain online and viewable for decades to come.

Where were you the morning of 9/11? Do you remember it as well as I?

I remember that morning very well too. All of it seemed very plausible in the beginning with everything that was being said, why wouldn't it? But then a few years later after analyzing everything, something just didn't seem right; it wasn't adding up anymore. Serious questions were being asked and swept under the carpet by the main stream media and were and are being totally ignored. Why? Because the "official" story to what happened that day is a deliberate lie, a conspiracy. The reason why the hard hitting real questions were not being answered and being hidden from the general public is because those questions would shoot holes in the official story and make it look like swiss cheese. There is a movement going on right now that most of you don't know about that is set forth to bring the real truth about 9/11 into the light. You don't hear about it on any main stream media network because they don't want to give it more momentum than it already has. You will hear about it once in a while on Neocon show like Hannity and Combs or Bill O'Reilly and such host like that but they dismiss it as conspiracy theories, kooks, whack jobs or anything else they can think of to make themselves look and feel better. But these are not conspiracy theories, they are conspiracy facts with scientific evidence, official documents, insider testimonies and the occassional slip of the tongue by our wonderful leaders and administration officals.
I know most people are too busy to really dig into things, read real news and see the lies being spewed out by the main stream media, and that is what is being counted on. The general publics ignorance and unwillingness to ask questions or stand up to defend the Constition and Bill of Rights which is being shredded right in front of their eyes. 80 percent of the people in this country do not want this war anymore but this administration ignores the majority of the people and do what they want anyway. You have to remember, these people serve you, we do not serve them. And if things continue as they are, in the near future there will be no turning around, we will be the ones serving them; slaves.
Here's something to think about. Isn't it convenient that when ever Bush's approval rating goes down, Bin Laden just happens to come out to get the people worked up again and put a little fear in this country so that the people start to back Bush again? And now there is talk again that Bin Laden will make another tape for us. Kind of funny how that just works out when Bush's rating is at an all time low. But then you also have to wonder, which Bin Laden will it be? The skinny one? The fat one? The one who is left handed? The one who is Right handed? The one who wears a wedding ring? The one who doesn't wear a wedding ring? Or the one that had such a terrible make-up job that it doesn't even look like him?
Anyway, this country is in big trouble, it's a sinking ship right now and everyone has to wake up, learn the real facts and spread the truth to others. And if enough people start to take a stand, maybe, just maybe this country and the people will have a chance.

Gosh, I didn't know that you were the one who created this website, Al. I watched it many times after 9-11 and it always brought tears. The Enya music is perfect with it. Nice job.

Six years later, I'm so sad that the unity we felt as Americans at that time has gone away, and many are living their lives as if they don't realize that for these radical Islamists it's, "Convert or die." Like it or not, we will continue to be at war for the forseeable future. As Ken Burns said last week at the University of Minnesota at the sneak-peek at his new series on World War II, "There is no good war. But sometimes there is a necessary war."
