Windows Vista Delayed
As you may know, Microsoft's next version of the Windows Operating System, called Windows Vista, was due out the second half of this year. Well, the software giant has once again "got it wrong", and the release has been delayed until 2007. This has lead to a downslide in their stock and other problems, as investors know that they will miss the 2006 holiday shopping season. Let's just hope we get a better product for the wait. :)
If you do purchase a new computer before 2007, and plan to upgrade the OS later, you should take note of one important item. Windows Vista will need at least 512MB of RAM just to install, and 1GB of RAM is more reasonable. AtomicPark has a good article on the other requirements of this new Operating System. Considering it has been 5 years since the release of Windows XP, you should make sure the computer you buy this Christmas is compatible. At their current rate, it might just be 2015 before we see the next version.

Microsoft has essentially fired management staff because of this delay. Thumbs up to Microsoft for holding people accountable for their actions. Read more here .
