Database Driven Sites

As web sites have become increasingly sophisticated, they are more and more likely to rely on an underlying database. Part of my job as a developer is to stay on top of developments in the database world.

One of the ways I do that for Microsoft SQL Server databases is a subscription to the daily email from the SQL Server Worldwide Users Group (SSWUG.org). It's full of interesting recent developments as well as links to all kinds of information on SQL Server.

I especially like their white paper library. For a free registration, you have access to tons of great info. I keep a copy of a paper from their library on SQL injection techniques handy on my development machine.

Be sure to ask any prospective development company for your site how they keep up-to-date on these things (if they even do!). I know I would.
